Telangana worried about Rs 894 crore finance commission grant

HYDERABAD: As if the worries over diminishing central share of funds to Telangana are not enough, the state is now worried about the Rs 894-crore grant, which is supposed to come from the15th Finance Commission.

Of the huge grant recommended to Karnataka, Mizoram and Telangana by the commission, the state was to receive Rs 723 crore as its share. Similarly, the commission had recommended Rs 7,000 crore towards nutrition grant for all the states and Telangana’s share is around Rs 171 crore.

However, during Budget presentation, Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented a report which said that the Centre had asked finance commission to review recommendation of special grant to states, including Telangana. Highly-placed sources said government was evaluating cut in funds. The state budget, would reflect reduction in central allocation, sources said.
